ALYN App Privacy Policy
Last updated: 20 August 2026
This policy covers the ALYN mobile app and the ALYN Smart Ring. Our online store has its own separate privacy policy, which covers orders, payments and shipping.
The short version
Almost everything your ring records stays on your phone. There is no ALYN account and no login. We do not sell your data.
One optional feature sends a summary of your numbers off your phone so that it can be written up for you in plain English. You are asked first, and you can say no and keep using everything else.
What the ring records
When you wear the ring and sync it, the app collects:
- sleep timing and sleep stages
- heart rate and heart rate variability
- blood oxygen and skin temperature readings
- movement, steps and activity
- stress indicators derived from your heart rhythm
- anything you enter yourself, such as evening tags, workouts, your birthday, or cycle dates
ALYN is a general wellness product. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, monitor or prevent any medical condition, and nothing in the app is medical advice.
Where it is stored
On your phone. Your readings, your scores, your personal baselines and your history are held in the app's own storage on your device. We do not keep a copy, and because there is no account, there is nothing for us to keep one against.
If you delete the app, that data goes with it.
Location
If you start a GPS walk, run or ride, the app uses your location while that workout is running so it can measure your distance and draw your route. The route is saved on your phone and shown on a map inside the app. We never receive it. The app does not use your location in the background or at any other time.
Bluetooth is used to talk to your ring. Some versions of Android require location permission before an app is allowed to scan for Bluetooth devices, which is why you may be asked for it during setup.
The one thing that leaves your phone
If you turn on your daily briefing and weekly reflection, the app sends a short summary of already calculated figures to our server, which passes it to Anthropic PBC in the United States. Anthropic's AI model writes the text that you then read in the app.
What is sent is a set of numbers. For example: your readiness score, your overnight heart rate variability, your resting heart rate, how long you slept, your step count, and the tags you have logged.
What is not sent: your name, your email address, your date of birth, your ring's identifier, your location, your GPS routes, or any raw sensor recording. The request carries a randomly generated installation identifier so that we can apply fair usage limits. It is not linked to your identity.
You are asked before this is ever switched on. If you decline, no request is made, and every other part of the app works normally. You can change your mind at any time inside the app.
Anything else we might receive
If you email us for support, we receive whatever you choose to put in that message.
Children
The app is not intended for people under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Your choices
- Leave the briefing switched off, or switch it off later.
- Delete the app to remove your data from your phone.
- Email us to ask what we hold, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is a significant one, we will tell you inside the app.
